Eastern Learning Network in 2020

The Eastern Learning Network (ELN) is made up of schools and colleges in Auckland, Aotearoa, New Zealand who work together to grow their leadership capabilities and practice to improve learning and teaching. Established in 2013 the ELN has emerged as a developing Community of Practice that has adult learning at its core.

The ELN continues to offer schools breakfast workshops throughout the year to inquire into and critically analyse leadership practice. Building upon the professional learning of previous years Middle Leadership development t continues as the focus for 2020. Workshops based in Action Research and Inquiry flow through the year to further support Middle Leaders in their learning and growth.

The ELN provides another space for schools from the same Kāhui Ako to progress their learning together, cognisant of each Kāhui Ako’s Achievement Challenges. Progressively schools are finding significant value in ensuring those with leadership responsibilities as ASL or WSL attend the ELN workshops to grow their leadership capabilities in a collaborative setting.

Research

A team of researchers from Auckland University of Technology and Osprey Consulting continue with a longitudinal research study into teacher collaborative inquiry practice in the ELN to provide members with feedback to further inform their learning needs in their context. Through publication of the research the ELN practice continues to be shared on various platforms globally including in Asia and the UK.

Online Resources

A bank of online resources including workshop material and videos of presentations supports the professional learning. The ELN online forum and community gives ELN members the ability to collaborate and continue to grow as a Community of Practice.
